Key takeaways:

  • Nana (Sukhumvit Soi 4-11) is Bangkok’s entertainment district — at street level, massage here means happy ending shops
  • Prices run ฿800-2,500 for oil massage with extras at street-level shops
  • Four private-room venues do run proper nuru and soapy, and they are upstairs rather than on the pavement: Dragon Heart, Heaven Prime and NURU S11 on Soi 11, 8 Fantasy on Soi 8 — ฿1,600-9,000
  • For the deepest nuru choice it is still 2 BTS stops east to Phrom Phong (10+ venues); the big fishbowl soapy complexes are still Huai Khwang and Ratchada
  • Nana is best for nightlife-adjacent massage at lower price points

Nana is one of Bangkok’s most famous nightlife zones. If you search “massage Nana Bangkok,” you’re going to find happy ending massage shops, not nuru parlors. That distinction matters. Here’s what actually exists in this area and how to use it.

What Nana is (and isn’t)

Nana runs along Sukhumvit Road between Soi 4 and Soi 11, anchored by BTS Nana station. The area revolves around Nana Plaza (Soi 4), beer bars, and late-night entertainment.

What you’ll find: Happy ending massage shops. Oil massage places that offer “extras.” Some traditional Thai massage scattered in between. A handful of freelancer-friendly venues.

What you won’t find: A nuru district. The dedicated nuru cluster is Phrom Phong, two BTS stops east — if a street-level Nana shop tells you they do “nuru,” they’re doing oil massage and calling it nuru.

What about soapy? Two exceptions, both boutique-format rather than street-level. Dragon Heart Nuru & Soapy sits on the 4th floor of the Una Una Building on Soi 11 — ฿3,800–6,500, rated 4.6, and open until 03:00. 8 Fantasy is on Soi 8 itself, ฿2,000–9,000, and prices soapy and nuru identically because its board charges by session length rather than by style. The large fishbowl complexes the word “soapy” usually means are still in Huai Khwang (via MRT) or Ratchada; Nana doesn’t have that format.

Massage types available in Nana

Happy ending shops (Soi 4-8)

The bread and butter of Nana massage. These are small shopfront venues with glass-front rooms, curtains, and a lineup of staff sitting out front. You pick a therapist, agree on the service, and head to a private room.

Typical prices:

  • Oil massage (1 hr): ฿300-600
  • Oil massage + happy ending: ฿800-1,500
  • Full service: ฿1,500-2,500

Payment is almost always cash. Some take QR. None take credit cards.

Most open around noon and run until 01:00-02:00. The busiest hours are 20:00-midnight, after the bars fill up.

Traditional Thai massage

A few legitimate Thai massage shops operate in the Nana area, usually on the less entertainment-focused side streets. Expect ฿200-400 for a proper Thai massage. These places don’t offer extras — they’re actual massage shops that happen to be in a nightlife zone.

Hotel spa massage

Hotels along Sukhumvit near Nana (like the Landmark Bangkok on Soi 4) have proper spas. These are standard hotel massage experiences at hotel prices (฿1,500-3,000+). No happy endings, no extras. Just professional spa services.

Soi-by-soi breakdown

Soi 4 (Nana Plaza side)

The densest concentration of massage shops. Ground floor of buildings surrounding Nana Plaza, plus shops lining the soi entrance from Sukhumvit. This is where most first-timers end up. Advantage: lots of options in a small area. Disadvantage: aggressive touts.

Soi 7-8

A second cluster of massage shops, slightly less intense than Soi 4. Some shops here cater more to the expat crowd than walk-in tourists. Prices can be marginally lower since there’s less foot traffic.

Listed, not yet ranked: 8 Fantasy at 22 Soi 8 is the one venue on these two sois running proper soapy and nuru sessions in private en-suite rooms rather than curtained cubicles — ฿2,000 for 40 minutes up to ฿9,000, no room or service charge, open until 02:00. It’s a directory entry compiled from the operator’s published rate card, not a venue our team has visited, so it doesn’t hold a place in the ranked lists above.

Soi 11

Bar-focused at street level, which is exactly why the massage here gets missed: the venues are upstairs in buildings rather than on the pavement. Three sit on this soi and all three run nuru. Dragon Heart is on the 4th floor of the Una Una Building at 33/2, about 3 minutes from the station, ฿1,800-8,500 across erotic, happy ending, nuru, soapy, four hands and couples, open 11:00-03:00 with cards and Alipay accepted. Heaven Prime at 33/25 runs ฿2,800-15,500, also to 03:00. NURU S11, off the Soi 1/1 side, is the cheapest entry on the street at ฿1,600-6,000. Prices are higher than Soi 4 because these are private-room venues with published rate cards rather than negotiated street shops — what the difference buys is a fixed price and a room. We have not visited any of the three, and each venue page says so.

If you’re staying near Nana and want the full range, take the BTS: two stops to Phrom Phong for nuru, or MRT to Huai Khwang for the big soapy complexes. Both trips take under 10 minutes. If you would rather not travel, the four private-room venues on Soi 8 and Soi 11 above cover nuru and soapy without leaving the area.

Tips for massage in Nana

Negotiate before, not after. Agree on price and services before you start. Happy ending shops operate on verbal agreements. Get specific about what’s included.

Cash is king. Almost every massage shop in Nana is cash-only. ATMs are everywhere on Sukhumvit — 7-Eleven ATMs have the lowest fees.

Walk past the first tout. The shops with the most aggressive touts at the door aren’t necessarily the best or worst — they just have the most aggressive touts. Walk the soi once to see your options before committing.

Late-night prices go up. After midnight, demand peaks and prices follow. If budget matters, go earlier in the evening (18:00-20:00) for better rates.

Nana Plaza itself is bars, not massage. The three-story entertainment complex is go-go bars. Some bars offer back-room services, but that’s a different thing from the massage shops at street level.

Getting to Nana

BTS Nana — Exit 2 for Soi 4 (Nana Plaza side). Exit 3 for Soi 7-11.

From Suvarnabhumi: Airport Rail Link → Makkasan → MRT Phetchaburi → MRT Sukhumvit → walk up to BTS Asoke → one stop west to BTS Nana. About 45 min, ฿90.

From Phrom Phong: 2 BTS stops west, 4 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Nana good for massage?

For happy ending and oil massage at low-to-mid prices, yes. For nuru and soapy the choice is narrow but real: Dragon Heart, Heaven Prime and NURU S11 on Soi 11 and 8 Fantasy on Soi 8 all run proper private-room sessions, and all four are upstairs rather than at street level, which is why the street reads as if they are not there. The wider nuru district is still Phrom Phong and the large soapy complexes are still Huai Khwang and Ratchada. Nana is a nightlife district first, massage district second.

How much does a happy ending cost in Nana?

฿800-2,500 depending on the shop, time of night, and services. Standard oil massage without extras runs ฿300-600.

Is it safe to get a massage in Nana?

The established shops on Soi 4 and Soi 7-8 are generally safe. Use common sense: agree on price upfront, don’t leave valuables unattended, and avoid anyone pushing you toward unmarked locations.

Should I go to Nana or Phrom Phong for massage?

Depends what you want. Nana for cheap happy ending shops in a nightlife atmosphere. Phrom Phong for dedicated nuru massage parlors with proper facilities, ratings, and reviews.
