Analytics

We run our own Umami analytics. It counts page views and taps on a venue's contact details, and records the referring site, country, city, device, browser and operating system. It is designed to work without cookies, and we use it to see which pages are useful. We carry no advertising trackers.

We may share totals with a listed venue, such as how many readers viewed its page or tapped its contact details. These totals do not identify you.

Saved in your own browser

Your saved venues, recently viewed venues and language choice are kept in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Maps

Some of our pages use Google Maps. On venue pages the map loads only if you tap to show it. When a map loads, Google receives your IP address and the usual technical details under its own privacy policy.

Hosting and security

The site is delivered through Cloudflare and our hosting provider. They process your IP address and technical request details to deliver the site, determine your approximate country and protect the site against abuse.

Reviews

If you send a review, we receive what you enter, which can include your rating, comments, a nickname and up to three photos. To limit repeated submissions, we use your IP address and a random device ID kept in your browser, and store a one-way code made from them with your browser type. We also record your country. Photos are resized in your browser, which also removes location data. Our customer-management provider stores reviews for us. Please do not include your real name or anything that identifies another person.

Email

If you email us, we keep your address and message to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. Our email and customer-management providers process them for us.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers named above, or where the law requires it. Some of those providers may process data outside your country.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Because we do not ask readers for an account, we may need details such as the email address you wrote from to find it.

Adults only

This site is for adults aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. See our terms of use for the rules that apply to the site.

Changes

We may update this notice, and the date at the top shows the latest version.
